The Pont du Gard rises above the Gardon river in a landscape of Provençal garrigue, white limestone and fragrant pine forests. The UNESCO-listed site offers dogs a leashed walk along the right bank, away from the crowds of the central riverbanks, with access to the river to cool off between two millennia-old stone blocks. An outing worthy of the monument.
