Lac de Grand-Lieu — Loire-Atlantique

About this place

The largest natural lake in France in winter (6,300 ha), Grand-Lieu is a national nature reserve in the Loire plain south of Nantes. Its marshy banks and reed beds are home to exceptionally rich birdlife. Dogs on leads follow paths around the perimeter with the discretion required to avoid disturbing the herons, otters and migratory birds that make this lake a unique natural sanctuary in France.
