About this place
A 280 km tour of the Chaîne des Puys and the Massif du Cantal, this circular trail crosses the largest extinct volcanoes in Europe. Eroded craters turned to meadows, maar lakes, petrified lava flows, salers cattle pastures and mineral springs punctuate a geological route of absolute rarity. Dogs gallop along high-altitude paths between 600 and 1,800 metres, in pure air and desolate landscapes of primitive beauty.
