A forest on the edge of the Caen metropolitan area · Grimbosq is a beech-oak woodland on the cliffs overlooking the Orne valley · in the Thury-Harcourt area. It offers spectacular panoramas over the meanders of the Orne from its wooded viewpoints. Well equipped (marked trails · car parks · picnic tables) · it is the go-to dog walk spot for residents of Caen and the surrounding area.

Reported hazards
Possible fine of up to 750 € for straying. A fenced wildlife park on site (wild boar and deer): keep your dog away from the enclosures. Hunting periods in autumn and winter.
Specific rules
National forest rule: lead mandatory outside forest paths from 15 April to 30 June (protection of wildlife during the breeding season · order of 16 March 1955). For the rest of the year the dog must remain under its owner's supervision and within 100 m. Exemptions for sheepdogs · avalanche dogs and guide dogs.
